Gena's Bachelorette Party

Gena had her Bachelorette party in Leakey. Megan, Sarah and I flew into San Antonio on Friday night and drove into Leakey. There was no mistake that my role for the weekend was to be the pregnant, sober, grown-up. :)
On Saturday morning Megan and I had appointments at the Concan Country Club. Megan had a massage and I had the facial. While I was waiting for my facial, I called home to check on everyone. Madelyn had fallen out of her big girl bed in the middle of the night and cut her cheek open pretty badly on the corner of her nightstand. In the almost 3 years we had her other big girl bed, she never fell out once.
Saturday morning (for everyone else) started off with horseshoes and shot gunning beer!
After sitting down in the river and watching all these girls down pitcher after pitcher of beer ritas, we headed up river to "the cliffs" and some rope swings. Gena, Tammy, and Megan were considering jumping from the cliffs and Sarah, completely inebriated, tried talking them out of it. The river was a bit low but it wasn't too bad. I told them not to, also, because I was the only sober one of the bunch! One of Sarah's tactics to get them not to jump was taking off her swimsuit top. Her intentions were good. As you can imagine, this didn't seem to change their minds. :)
They jumped, of course. I told Megan not to since she never had before. Makes me too nervous.

That night we all got ready and went into downtown Leakey! We had dinner at the pizza place and then drove over to the "Hog Pen" - a biker bar!

We had some "bachelorette party cards" that we attempted using here. After the second one read "find 5 men and get their business cards" we figured these weren't cut out for Leakey!
Then the bartender told us he had a karaoke machine! We figured it would have 1960s country music but they actually had current songs! We must have sung Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" no less than 20 times. This place will never be the same!

More Parks!

Today we headed to another park near Nana and Papa's with the Whisenant cousins this time. . .
There was a family of geese that the kids followed all the way up the path to the park.
Dylan and Landon coming down the slide together!
Madelyn found some tree branches and and stuck them in the ground to make trees. :)

We have loved spending all this time with Aunt Bonnie and can't wait to see her again!

Aunt Bonnie

Nana bought Aunt Bonnie a plane ticket down here for her retirement gift. We just love having her here! We tried to spend every free night with her and Nana and Papa's.

Ashlynn, Chase, and Madelyn snuggling up together . . .
We all walked to a new park near Nana and Papa's after dinner and had so much fun until Marek fell off the slide. I nearly had a heart attack. I was standing close by taking a picture and the rubber on his tennis shoe caught and he flipped over the side. I was so very VERY thankful that he completely flipped over and landed flat on his back. It knocked the wind out of him and he cried very hard. I nearly threw up but he is a tough kid and after a few tears he got right up and got back on that horse!
Climbing the rock . . .
I'm incredibly strong and held the rocks up so Marek could pass through. He was impressed, anyway.
Nana and Neena swinging (that's right - together they're "Neena-Nana")

Sydney's Birthday Party

This is a different Sydney friend - "school Sydney", not "dance Sydney". :) She had her birthday party at "Let's Jump". Always a treat. :)

Mads with the birthday girl . . .

School friends . . .
I love how girly they are - they would go to the top of the slides and all hold hands to go down together. So cute.

I'm an Updating Fool!

I'm catching up . . . I've made it to September of last year! Need to go to sleep. :)

Big Girl Bed

It is about time to get Marek out of his crib now that he is almost 3 years old! He's been able to climb out of it for quite some time but has only done so a few times. I figured it would be easiest to get Madelyn some new "big girl" bedroom furniture and give Marek the "lifetime" crib/toddler bed/full size bed.

Susan had told me about Weir's Furniture in Southlake (also in Dallas). She had always said they had great deals sometimes. So I took Madelyn there last Saturday "just to look". We both fell in love with this beautiful bedroom set that was on sale for just the weekend. The entire bed (Four post bed with head & foot boards, rails, etc) was only $199!!! Brand new Hooker furniture. Madelyn actually picked it - I was glad it wasn't too "childish" because I wanted it to last until she moves out. :)

A week later they delivered and set it all up. It is so pretty!

I (yes me) converted Madelyn's bed back into the toddler bed for Marek. It took me a while searching through boxes in the garage to find the hardware but I found it! He loves it but still waits for us to come upstairs to get him in the morning. It's too cute.
Now if Tom and I could just get some bedroom furniture!

Dance

They have parent observation day at Madelyn's dance classes months before the recitals so we can video the choreography to practice at home.

She is in two classes this year: Hip-Hop for 1 hour and Tap/Ballet for 1/2 hour.
Her Tap/Ballet class . . .

Her BFF, Sydney, is in both classes with her. They are so stinkin' cute together and are already inseperable!

Little goofballs. . .

12.5 Weeks

Yes - I've made it through my first trimester with baby O #3!! We are so very excited to say that I am pregnant again. My due date is October 20th. I'm over all my sickness and have much more energy! Stephanie is also pregnant, due in August with a little girl! We are very excited to find out what the sex is! Both Madelyn and Marek say they want another brother. Interesting. Apparently, Madelyn wants to be the only princess . . .
I really started showing within the last week or so. I really hope that I don't get so enormous with #3 but more importantly, I pray for a healthy baby. :)

Happy Easter!

The kids were so good in church today. Madelyn just loves dressing up and felt like such a princess. Everyone at church stopped to tell her how beautiful she looked. She knew it. :)
We headed over to Nana and Papa's house after church and waited for all the other cousins to arrive.
We got a few family shots before everyone arrived and it got too crazy.

Showing Papa how to play Nintendo DS . . .
Nana playing blocks with Marek. . .
Tradition - we try to get a shot of all the cousins on this couch at Nana/Papa's house for each gathering. Sometimes they are all looking at the same time . . . sometimes.
Lunch! Boys table . . .
Princess table . . .
Happy Easter!

Haircut

We hadn't been back to get Marek a "professional" hair cut since the first disaster. He had something sticky in his hair and when the hair stylist went to comb it, she pulled a little too hard and that just about did it for little man. It's been over a year so I was hoping he was over it by now . . .

We took him to Cool Cuts 4 Kids and they play a movie and let them sit in these cute little cars. He did great.
Doesn't he look happy?
He did great until the clippers came out. He's not too sure about those. Either am I. :)

Egg Decorating

We got all of our cups filled with water, vinegar, and the colored tabs. Ready to decorate!
It took a few dunks to get the colors just right. :)

This was Mari's first time to decorate Easter Eggs! She loved it.
I have so many Easter Egg decorating kits from over the years so I pulled out one that had some metallic paints. This was a hit. . .

All ready for the Easter Bunny!

Enough said.

Easter Egg Hunt at School

The kids had their Easter Egg hunt at school today.
All dressed up in their pastels and their Easter Baskets. :)

Handy Little Helper

We had someone out to fix our back door because the dead bolt wasn't working. Marek decided to get some of his tools that Nana had bought him. He's such a big helper. :)

Checking out the workman's tools . . .
I'm sure he was in the way but it was too cute to tell him to stop!
Such a helper.

I eventually had to divert his attention so the door could actually be fixed. I sent Marek on other "fix-it" projects around the house. He felt so important.
